Romantic Evenings and Escapes in Abu Dhabi
Travel advisory for couples. Weigh the current situation before you plan anything special here. The UAE has been drawn into a regional conflict: Iran has fired missiles and drones at the country since 28 February 2026, and debris from intercepted missiles has fallen in parts of Abu Dhabi. The UK Foreign Office reports fresh strikes and retaliation across the region from 8 July and a risk of more. The UK does not advise against travel to the UAE, while the US State Department lists it at Level 3, “Reconsider Travel”, at the time of writing. The airport and attractions are open, but flights can be cancelled and plans can change quickly, so book refundable rooms where possible. If a UAE phone alert sounds, go indoors and stay away from windows until the all-clear. Filming or posting strikes or interceptions is illegal. Check gov.uk and travel.state.gov before you book and again before you fly. This page describes a calm trip.
Abu Dhabi suits couples who like architecture, still water and long dinners more than nightlife. Amounts are in dirhams (AED), pegged at 3.6725 to the US dollar. The sections below are grouped by the kind of evening you want.
For a quiet, cultural evening

The museum runs a late programme called Museum After Dark, described on its official page . For Monday opening hours, check the museum’s calendar.
Qasr Al Watan hosts Palace in Motion, an evening light and sound show. One listing says it runs at weekends only, so read the palace’s page before building a dinner around it. Palace tickets are about AED 65, and dress covers knees and shoulders.
For something active together
At sunrise or sunset, guided kayaks glide through Jubail Mangrove Park at about AED 120 per person, according to listings. The park does not publish prices, so ask Jubail Island . Take water and a hat.
The Louvre also offers a 60-minute kayak paddle beneath its dome, Tuesday to Sunday, at about AED 126.
For a table for two

For a night away

Conduct couples should know
Keep affection private: public displays are frowned upon, and a kiss in public can end in arrest. Rude gestures and swearing are offences too, online as well as in person. Unmarried adults in a consensual relationship are generally within the law, though a complaint from a family member can lead to prosecution. Same-sex sexual activity is illegal. Being drunk in a public place is an offence anywhere in the UAE, and photographing people without permission can lead to arrest.
