Travel advisory: Dubai and the wider UAE were caught up in the 2026 regional conflict with Iran. During a roughly six-week phase in early 2026, Iranian drones and missiles struck sites in the UAE, including near Dubai’s airport and port and a hotel on Palm Jumeirah. A ceasefire has held since April, and Dubai’s flights, hotels, and attractions are operating and recovering, though the situation stays fluid (the current risk is mainly to shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, not the city). The US State Department has the UAE at “Reconsider Travel” and the UK FCDO does not advise against travel, but both flag the regional situation. Check the current US State Department and UK FCDO advisories before booking, and again before you fly. Everything below is written for a normal visit, for when it’s calm.
Half of Dubai’s family-friendly list runs year-round regardless of the thermometer, and the other half genuinely shuts down for the summer, and mixing the two up is the fastest way to plan a disappointing day.
Indoor and reliable, whatever the season
The Dubai Dolphinarium at Creek Park runs daily 9am-8pm except Tuesdays, with dolphin and seal shows at 2pm and 6pm and an exotic bird show three times a day, a genuinely year-round animal encounter that doesn’t depend on outdoor enclosures. KidZania Dubai, inside Dubai Mall, runs a kids’ role-play city for ages 4-16, with children roughly AED 95-155, toddlers AED 75-115, and adult companions AED 50-75; book online, since gate prices typically run 10-15% higher. The Green Planet at City Walk, a four-storey enclosed rainforest biodome with more than 3,000 plants and animals, runs roughly AED 99 for adults and AED 79 for ages 3-12.
The two waterparks, priced by age, not by day
Atlantis Aquaventure on The Palm runs roughly AED 300-350 for ages 8 and up and AED 259-300 for ages 3-7, free under 3, open daily 10am-6:30pm with last entry 5:30pm, and free for Atlantis hotel guests. Wild Wadi, beside Burj Al Arab, runs roughly AED 175-199, and it had a genuine precautionary closure into mid-March 2026 during the regional conflict period, so confirm current status rather than assuming it matches last year. Dubai Safari Park: the genuinely seasonal one
More than 2,500 animals across themed zones, but it closes for summer, roughly from June, and reopens in mid-October. Don’t build a summer-trip day around it; check the calendar first.
The theme-park cluster, kept separate
Dubai Parks and Resorts (Motiongate, Legoland Dubai and its water park, Bollywood Parks) and IMG Worlds of Adventure are separate parks under separate tickets, not one pass covering all of it. Single-park tickets run roughly AED 235 (Motiongate) to AED 295 (IMG Worlds), with 2-park combos from about AED 385. Verdict: anchor a summer trip’s family days around KidZania, the Dolphinarium, and The Green Planet, and treat the waterparks and Safari Park as cooler-season bonuses rather than guaranteed stops.
