Day 1: Little Mermaid, Nyhavn And Strøget
- Go straight to the Little Mermaid at Langelinie between 7 and 9am, free and unfenced, a genuinely small 1.25m bronze from 1913
- Cut back through Kastellet, the star-shaped fortress park
- Reach Nyhavn by late morning, the 17th-century canal houses (built 1670-75) are free to walk
- Spend the afternoon on Strøget, the 1.1km pedestrianized spine from Rådhuspladsen to Kongens Nytorv

Day 2: Tivoli Gardens And Vesterbro

Day 4: The Round Tower, Christiansborg And The Canals

- Take a canal cruise in the afternoon past Christianshavn’s 17th-century canal houses and the spiral-spire Church of Our Saviour
- Evening stroll through Christianshavn itself before dinner, it’s quieter than Indre By and genuinely pretty at dusk
Is 4 days enough to see Copenhagen properly? For the historic core, yes, comfortably. Four days covers every major indoor sight, both castles, and one canal cruise without a single rushed morning. What it still skips is Christiania and a dedicated cycling day, both of which the 5-day itinerary picks up.
Do I need to book the Christiansborg Tower in advance? Yes, even though it’s free. The timed-slot system exists specifically to control crowd size on the viewing platform, so book your slot online for the day and time you actually plan to be there, walk-up spots aren’t guaranteed.
