Krabi Group Activities by Who Is Coming
The hardest part of a group trip to Krabi is rarely the booking. It is the vote at breakfast, when one person wants a cliff, another wants a sun lounger and a third wants to know where lunch is. The answer depends on who is in the group, so start there.
A group of friends who want to move
Active groups get the most from Railay, the boat-only peninsula where more than 700 bolted climbing routes start almost on the sand. A beginner half-day with an instructor and all the gear is usually listed at about ฿1,000 to ฿1,500 each, and nobody needs experience. Pair it with a day on your own boat: a private longtail for up to 6 people runs about ฿2,500 to ฿4,500 for the day, and you choose the islands and the hours. Park fees are still paid per person. To see what is on offer, compare private longtail days on Viator .
Three generations travelling together
Keep the sea days short and the walks flat. On the half-day Four Islands longtail run, the boat stops at four islands and beaches including Koh Poda and Phra Nang Cave Beach, with a sandbar to stroll at low tide, and children and grandparents can snorkel in life jackets or stay aboard. Inland, the Hot Springs Waterfall gate is ฿200 per adult and ฿100 per child, and the tubs sit at 40 to 45°C, so test the water before small children get in. At Khao Phanom Bencha National Park , adults pay ฿100 and children ฿50, and the lowest tiers of Huai To are close enough to the visitor centre for slow walkers. Leave Tiger Cave Temple off this group’s list: about 1,260 steep steps and grabbing monkeys are no outing for toddlers or bad knees.
Mixed fitness, one day
Railay solves the split. Once the longtail drops you, ฿100 each from Ao Nang or Ao Nam Mao, everything is on foot. The climbers go up the wall, the walkers take the path to Phra Nang Beach and its cave shrine, and the swimmers stay on Railay West. Agree a lunch spot and a boat time, and nobody has to compromise for more than an hour.
Verdict: if your group can agree on only one shared day, make it Railay. It is the one place in Krabi where four different ideas of a good day sit within a short walk of each other.
Groups that want to learn something
A southern Thai cooking class works for almost any mix of ages, and many start at a fresh market before you pound a curry paste and eat what you made. Batik painting, the hot-wax dyeing tradition of the south, is offered in Krabi Town and on Koh Lanta, and Muay Thai sessions of around 90 minutes run in Ao Nang for groups who want to sweat. Browse Krabi cooking classes on GetYourGuide to compare class sizes.
Evenings together
Each Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening, 17:00 until 22:00, traffic is shut out of Maharaj Soi 8 in Krabi Town and food stalls ring a live stage, and everyone can order separately at ฿50 to ฿100 a dish. On the Ao Nang waterfront, a seafood dinner runs roughly ฿700 to ฿1,400 for two, so a long table adds up quickly.
Moving a group safely
Count heads and life jackets before any boat leaves, and wait for another if one looks overloaded. Monsoon swells between May and October scrub trips with little warning. For sea and scooter risks, read the FCDO page on staying safe in Thailand , which also says never to leave a passport as security.

Tip: name one person as the cash keeper each morning with a stack of small baht notes, since longtails, park gates and market stalls all want exact money.
