Krabi With Children, Age by Age
Krabi is better for older children than for toddlers, and the family options here are real but limited. The province has beautiful scenery and gentle water, but few purpose-built children’s attractions, so the plan is to pick a handful of easy outings and match them to your children’s ages. No specific family operator is listed here, so ask your hotel about what suits your group.
Toddlers and pre-schoolers
Keep days short and close to the hotel. Ao Nang beach and the calm sands at Railay West suit small children, and Phra Nang Beach nearby has soft sand and gentle shallows on a good day. Railay can only be reached by boat. The longtail from Ao Nang costs ฿100 per person each way, and boarding means wading through calf-deep water, so carry small children and bring a dry bag. Ao Nam Mao has a protected pier with a floating pontoon, which is easier when the sea is lively. Check that a life jacket in the right size is available before the boat leaves. The shade is thin at midday, so plan beach time for morning and late afternoon.
Children of primary-school age
The inland waters are the best bet. Hot Springs Waterfall costs ฿200 for adults and ฿100 for children, and its terraced pools are warm, with some sections very hot, so supervise closely. Emerald Pool is ฿400 for adults and ฿200 for children and lies inside a wildlife sanctuary. Swimming conditions vary, so check the water before anyone goes in. Both take cash only. Khao Phanom Bencha National Park charges ฿100 and ฿50, and the walk to Huai To waterfall from the visitor centre is short enough for small legs. A half-day boat on the Four Islands circuit, with a shallow stop for snorkelling, works well if the sea is calm and everyone wears a life jacket. Check Four Islands trips on GetYourGuide for shorter options.
Teenagers
Older teens can try a half-day sea kayak through the Ao Thalane mangroves, a beginner rock-climbing course at Railay with an instructor, or snorkelling. Minimum ages differ by operator, so ask before booking. Diamond Cave on Railay costs ฿100 for adults and ฿50 for children and has a lit boardwalk.
What to leave out
Tiger Cave Temple has about 1,260 steep steps and aggressive monkeys, so it is a poor fit for families. Skip scooters with children aboard as well, because Thailand’s roads are dangerous.
Seasons and safety
From May to October the monsoon brings rough seas, rip currents and jellyfish, and boats are cancelled at short notice. Look for warning flags and ask the lifeguard or hotel before swimming. Visa-exempt stays run up to 30 days, and the TDAC arrival card completed online within 3 days before arrival on the official immigration site .

Tip: do one boat or one waterfall per day, and leave the afternoon empty.
