Serbia Multi-Day Trips by Number of Nights

Serbia’s best regional circuits need a car or a patient timetable, and each one rewards a night or two away from Belgrade. This page lays out four trips by length so you can match one to the days you have. Budget in Serbian dinars (RSD), at roughly 117 per euro. Demonstrations can turn violent at short notice, so read local news before each leg and keep away from crowds.

Two nights on the Danube

Day one, drive east to Golubac Fortress, which is roughly 130 km from the capital. It is closed on Mondays and opens 10:00 to 16:00 in October. The Green Zone ticket is 950 RSD, and the escorted Blue and Black tiers (1,600 and 2,500 RSD) run Friday to Sunday only. Continue to Lepenski Vir, 163 km and about 2 hours 15 minutes from Belgrade by car. Entry is 600 RSD, and the site is shut all of February. Day two, take the boat from Donji Milanovac. The cruise lasts about 90 minutes through the Kazan gorge to the Decebalus sculpture and the Tabula Traiana; one operator needs four passengers and the price was not confirmed. Three nights in the west

Start with a night on Zlatibor. The Gold Gondola climbs 9 km to Tornik at 1,496 m for 2,000 RSD return, on shortened hours in autumn. Next, Mokra Gora has the Šargan Eight heritage train, 1,500 RSD for adults and 750 RSD for ages 6 to 14, running to about 30 October, then a shorter winter run. The timber film village of Drvengrad is reported at about 250 to 300 RSD, a figure from secondary sources, so check on the spot.

Then cross to Tara National Park, a forested plateau above the Drina and Lake Perućac. Its Mitrovac visitor centre is the base for marked trails, and Banjska Stena is a cliff viewpoint over the lake. White-water rafting on the Tara canyon is a Montenegro and Bosnia activity and is not available in the Serbian park.

Two nights on the northern rail line

Take the Soko from Belgrade to Novi Sad (advertised at 34 to 36 minutes; allow up to an hour) and spend the first evening in Petrovaradin and the old town. Fares since 15 July 2026 start at 549 RSD one way; check srbijavoz.rs . Next day, visit Sremski Karlovci for its Patriarchate and Bermet cellars, then the Fruška Gora monasteries. Subotica is 79 minutes from Belgrade on the Soko and makes a natural third stop, with Palić a short ride beyond.

Three nights in the south

Niš sits on the Nišava river and has a fortress, a cafe lane called Kazandžijsko sokače and the Constantine-era Mediana villa and baths. Mediana is nationally protected but not on the UNESCO list, and it costs 500 RSD (400 reduced). Niš museums close on Mondays; hours are on narodnimuzejnis.rs . The Skull Tower, Ćele Kula, is a solemn stop that calls for a quiet visit. From Niš, Đavolja Varoš lies about 89 km to the south west. It costs 350 RSD, closes from December to March and has two highly acidic springs that visitors must keep away from.
