Day 1: Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque and the Cistern
Book the Hagia Sophia upper gallery for the first slot of the day, EUR 25 and the only part of the building tourists can see since its 2020 return to active mosque status; it also closes 30 to 45 minutes around each of the 5 daily prayers. Walk across the Hippodrome to the free Blue Mosque , then spend the afternoon underground at the Basilica Cistern , 1,950 TRY for the day ticket among 336 columns. Day 2: Topkapi Palace and the Grand Bazaar
Topkapi closes Tuesdays, so check your dates on muze.gov.tr . The combined palace and Harem ticket runs 2,750 TRY and includes Hagia Irene church; give it a genuine half day for the Treasury alone. From the palace it’s a short walk to the Grand Bazaar , closed Sundays, 08:30 to 19:00 the rest of the week, with the daily Spice Bazaar as your Sunday fallback. Day 3: Kadikoy and the Bosphorus
Take a Sehir Hatlari ferry from Eminonu or Karakoy across to Kadikoy, 15 to 20 minutes for the price of an Istanbulkart tap and one of the best free views in the city. Kadikoy’s fish market and side streets feel like actual Istanbul, less polished and less touristed than the European side, and make a genuinely better lunch stop than most Sultanahmet options aimed at tour groups. Head back across for the evening and take the Bosphorus cruise you booked, or skip the paid version and repeat the public ferry to Uskudar for a cheaper sunset crossing.
