4 Days: Istanbul and Beyond

Day 1: Princes’ Islands
Morning
Ferries leave Kabatas roughly hourly from 05:45 per the official Adalar timetable , reaching Buyukada in 75 to 100 minutes for around 135-140 TRY one way.
Afternoon
Bike or electric cart around the car-free island, past the wood mansions on the quieter interior roads.
Evening
Return to Kabatas with time for dinner; the last sailing back runs around 21:45.
Day 2: The Bosphorus Cruise
Morning
The 6-hour Long Tour from Eminonu, about 640 TRY, reaches toward the Black Sea with a built-in lunch stop; the 2-hour Short Circle, around 340 TRY, is the shorter fallback.
Afternoon
Stay on the open upper deck for the shoreline villas and both bridges.
Evening
Take the private sunset cruise you booked, or the free commuter ferry to Kadikoy instead.
Day 3: Edirne
Morning
A direct bus, close to hourly from about 5am, covers the 2 hour 15 minute to 2 hour 45 minute run out.
Afternoon
Mimar Sinan’s Selimiye Mosque, widely considered his masterpiece, is the entire reason for the trip.
Evening
Return on a direct bus; departures run until close to 11pm.
Day 4: Bursa
Morning
An IDO or BUDO ferry from Yenikapi or Pendik to Mudanya takes about 1 hour 40 minutes, followed by a taxi or bus another 25 to 30 minutes into central Bursa. Prefer the road? A direct bus runs 3 to 5 hours depending on traffic, no ferry transfer required. Check current sailings on IDO’s official site before you fix a return time.
Afternoon
The Grand Mosque (Ulu Cami) and the Green Tomb and Green Mosque cover the city’s weight as the Ottoman Empire’s first capital. Lunch in the old bazaar district before heading back to the ferry or bus terminal.
Evening
Reverse your outbound route back to Istanbul. Add sightseeing to the crossing and this whole day runs 10 to 14.5 hours round trip, easily the longest single day on this itinerary.
Is Bursa worth a full day, or can it be squeezed into a half day?
A full day, not a half one. Between the ferry crossing, the transfer into the city center, and the return trip, a half-day attempt leaves almost no time at the Grand Mosque or Green Tomb once travel eats the clock. This is exactly why Bursa gets its own day here rather than sharing one with Edirne.
Which of these four days should you cut if you only have three?
Bursa, not Edirne. Edirne’s 2.5-hour bus is a genuine single day with time to spare; Bursa’s ferry-plus-transfer or 3 to 5 hour bus consumes the entire day and leaves the least room for error if a connection runs late.
