7 Days: Istanbul and Beyond

Day 1: Princes’ Islands
Morning
Ferries leave Kabatas roughly hourly from 05:45 per the official Adalar timetable , reaching Buyukada in 75 to 100 minutes.
Afternoon
Bike or electric cart around the car-free island’s interior roads, past the wood mansions.
Evening
Return to Kabatas in time for dinner.
Day 2: The Bosphorus Cruise
Morning
The 6-hour Long Tour from Eminonu, about 640 TRY, reaches toward the Black Sea with a lunch stop built in.
Afternoon
The 2-hour Short Circle, around 340 TRY, is the shorter fallback.
Evening
Take the private sunset cruise you booked, or the free commuter ferry to Kadikoy instead.
Day 3: Edirne
Morning
A direct bus, close to hourly from about 5am, covers the 2 hour 15 minute to 2 hour 45 minute run out.
Afternoon
Mimar Sinan’s Selimiye Mosque is the reason for the trip.
Evening
Return on a direct bus, with departures running until close to 11pm.
Day 4: Bursa
Morning
An IDO or BUDO ferry to Mudanya runs about 1 hour 40 minutes, plus a transfer into central Bursa; a direct bus alone runs 3 to 5 hours.
Afternoon
The Grand Mosque (Ulu Cami) and the Green Tomb and Green Mosque cover the city’s weight as the empire’s first capital.
Evening
Reverse your outbound route; count on 10 to 14.5 hours round trip.
Day 5: Heybeliada
Morning
Take the Sehir Hatlari ferry toward Heybeliada, 65 to 85 minutes from Kabatas.
Afternoon
Hike up to the old Naval Academy grounds and find a quieter beach than anything on the main island.
Evening
Return to Kabatas for an early night before the longer drive ahead.
Day 6: Gallipoli peninsula
Morning
Leave early for the 4.5 to 5.5 hour drive to the Gallipoli peninsula. A driver-led day tour handles the distance and the site logistics better than a self-driven attempt, especially on the first pass through unfamiliar roads.
Afternoon
Walk the battlefield memorials and cemeteries across the peninsula at an actual pace, the entire point of giving this trip its own two days instead of squeezing it into one.

Check into a hotel in Canakkale for the night. This overnight is what separates a real visit from the rushed single-day version some operators still sell.
Why does Gallipoli need an overnight when Edirne and Bursa don’t?
Distance and depth combined. Edirne and Bursa sit close enough for a genuine day trip with hours to spare at the destination; Gallipoli’s 4.5 to 5.5 hour drive each way already consumes most of a day before you’ve reached a single memorial, so splitting the trip across two days is the only way to see the peninsula properly rather than through a bus window.
Day 7: Troy, then return to Istanbul
Morning
Cross the short ferry from the Gallipoli peninsula to Troy, roughly 30 minutes south of Canakkale, and walk the ancient site with the fresh legs an overnight actually gives you.
Afternoon
Start the drive back to Istanbul; budget the same 4.5 to 5.5 hours you spent getting out here.
Evening
Arrive back in Istanbul for a final dinner, closing out a full week that never once required a domestic flight.
Could Cappadocia or Ephesus replace this Gallipoli and Troy leg instead?
Not on this itinerary. Both require a flight, roughly 1.5 hours in the air to Kayseri, Nevsehir or Izmir, plus ground transfers that stretch the real travel time to 4 to 6 hours each way.
