3 Days in Jaipur Plus Golden Triangle

Three days upgrades the 2-day version in one specific way: instead of cramming Ranthambore into a single rushed afternoon, this plan gives the tiger safari the overnight it actually deserves, two safari sessions instead of one. Day 1 stays the same, Pushkar and Ajmer, still the only trip on this page that fits comfortably into 24 hours.

Day 1: Pushkar and Ajmer

  • Morning (7:00am): depart Jaipur for Ajmer, 135-140km, roughly 2 to 2.5 hours. Visit the Dargah Sharif, a major Sufi shrine drawing both Hindu and Muslim pilgrims, dress modestly.
  • Midday: 15km on to Pushkar, about 40 minutes, for the ghats around Pushkar Lake and the Brahma Temple, one of the only working Brahma temples in India.
  • Afternoon: lunch lakeside, then Pushkar Bazaar for textiles and silver before the drive back.
  • Evening: return to Jaipur, 2.5 to 3 hours. Sleep early, tomorrow starts before dawn.

Day 2: Depart for Ranthambore, Evening Safari

  • Early (6:00am): depart Jaipur for Ranthambore National Park, 180-200km southeast, 3.5 to 4 hours by road.
  • Midday: check in near Sawai Madhopur and rest before the afternoon safari slot.
  • Afternoon/evening: your first safari, a 6-seat Gypsy jeep or 20-seat Canter truck through one of the park’s numbered zones. Foreigner Gypsy seats run roughly INR 3,700-4,200 (about $39-44) after the 1 April 2026 fee hike, confirm before booking. Core zones 1-5 close for the monsoon and reopen around 1 October.
  • Night: dinner and an early night near the park, a second safari starts before sunrise.

Day 3: Morning Safari and Return to Jaipur

  • Very early (6:00am): second safari session, the best odds for tigers come from stacking two sessions rather than relying on one. Sightings are never guaranteed either way.
  • Midday: return drive to Jaipur, 3.5 to 4 hours, arriving mid-afternoon to early evening.

Is the overnight Ranthambore safari worth an extra day over the compressed version?

Yes. A single rushed safari means one shot at a tiger and long drive fatigue on both ends of the same day. Two sessions across an overnight roughly double your odds of an actual sighting and let you skip the 5am-to-midnight single-day slog entirely, at the cost of exactly one more day on the road.
