4 Days in Jaipur Plus Golden Triangle

Four days keeps the 3-day plan intact, Pushkar and Ajmer on day one, a full overnight Ranthambore safari on days two and three, then adds a fourth day for Abhaneri’s Chand Baori stepwell and Bhangarh Fort. Skip that fourth day first if the Taj Mahal matters more than a stepwell, the 5-day version trades this day trip for a proper Agra overnight instead.

Day 1: Pushkar and Ajmer

  • Morning (7:00am): depart Jaipur for Ajmer, 135-140km, roughly 2 to 2.5 hours. Visit the Dargah Sharif, a major Sufi shrine, dress modestly.
  • Midday: 15km on to Pushkar, about 40 minutes. Walk the ghats around Pushkar Lake and visit the Brahma Temple.
  • Afternoon: lakeside lunch, then Pushkar Bazaar for textiles and silver before heading back.
  • Evening: return to Jaipur, 2.5 to 3 hours.

Day 2: Depart for Ranthambore, Evening Safari

  • Early (6:00am): depart Jaipur for Ranthambore National Park, 180-200km, 3.5 to 4 hours.
  • Afternoon/evening: first safari session in a shared Gypsy jeep or Canter truck. Foreigner Gypsy seats run roughly INR 3,700-4,200 (about $39-44) since the 1 April 2026 fee hike, confirm before booking.
  • Night: dinner near the park and an early night, the second safari starts before sunrise.

Day 3: Morning Safari and Return to Jaipur

  • Very early (6:00am): second safari session, stacking two sessions meaningfully improves your odds over a single rushed trip. Sightings are never guaranteed either way.
  • Midday: return drive to Jaipur, 3.5 to 4 hours, arriving mid-afternoon.

Day 4: Abhaneri Stepwell and Bhangarh Fort

  • Morning (7:00am): depart Jaipur for Chand Baori, the stepwell at Abhaneri, roughly 85-95km, 2 to 2.5 hours. Its geometric staircase descends multiple stories, built around the 9th century and expanded later, and it photographs like nothing else on this trip.
  • Midday: continue about 15km, roughly an hour, to Bhangarh Fort, marketed heavily and unverifiably as India’s most haunted site. The Archaeological Survey of India bars entry between sunset and sunrise, so plan for a daytime visit only.
  • Afternoon: return drive to Jaipur, both sites are remote enough that public transit isn’t realistic, a private car or the organized tour above is the practical way to see them.

Should Abhaneri and Bhangarh be your first Golden Triangle add-on?

Only if Pushkar/Ajmer and Ranthambore already have their days locked in. Both sites are genuinely worthwhile once you’ve covered the bigger-name trips, but skip this day first if a 5th day frees up for Agra instead, the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort outrank a stepwell and a fort ruin for most first-time visitors.
