5 Days in Jaipur Plus Golden Triangle

Five days keeps day 1 and the Ranthambore overnight from the 4-day plan , then trades the Abhaneri and Bhangarh detour for a proper Agra and Taj Mahal overnight instead. Agra outranks a stepwell for most first-time visitors, and the Taj Mahal genuinely doesn’t work as a rushed single day, so this version gives it the two days it needs. The 6-day plan adds Abhaneri and Bhangarh back in once there’s room for both.

Day 1: Pushkar and Ajmer

  • Morning (7:00am): depart Jaipur for Ajmer, 135-140km, roughly 2 to 2.5 hours. Visit the Dargah Sharif, a major Sufi shrine, dress modestly.
  • Midday: 15km on to Pushkar, about 40 minutes. Walk the ghats around Pushkar Lake and visit the Brahma Temple.
  • Afternoon: lakeside lunch, then Pushkar Bazaar before heading back.
  • Evening: return to Jaipur, 2.5 to 3 hours.

Day 2: Depart for Ranthambore, Evening Safari

  • Early (6:00am): depart Jaipur for Ranthambore National Park, 180-200km, 3.5 to 4 hours.
  • Afternoon/evening: first safari session, foreigner Gypsy seats run roughly INR 3,700-4,200 (about $39-44) since the 1 April 2026 fee hike, confirm before booking.
  • Night: dinner near the park, second safari starts before sunrise.

Day 3: Morning Safari and Return to Jaipur

  • Very early (6:00am): second safari session, two sessions across an overnight meaningfully improve your odds over one rushed trip.
  • Midday: return drive to Jaipur, 3.5 to 4 hours.

Day 4: Depart for Agra, Agra Fort

  • Morning (8:00am): depart Jaipur for Agra, 240km east, 4 to 5 hours by road, or roughly 4.5 hours on the fastest named express trains in 2026, don’t count on an unconfirmed 2-hour service.
  • Afternoon: check in and visit Agra Fort, the Mughal fortress-palace that predates the Taj Mahal and gives you the view Shah Jahan reportedly watched it from in his final years.
  • Evening: sunset at Mehtab Bagh, the garden across the river from the Taj, for the classic reflection view without fighting the main-gate crowds.

Day 5: Taj Mahal Sunrise and Return to Jaipur

  • Sunrise (6:00am): the Taj Mahal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983, at opening, when the light and the crowds are both at their best. The monument is closed every Friday, plan around it. Foreigner entry runs about INR 1,100, plus INR 200 more for the mausoleum itself, roughly INR 1,300 (about $14) total.
  • Midday: depart for Jaipur, 4 to 5 hours back.

Why does this itinerary drop Abhaneri and Bhangarh instead of shortening Ranthambore?

Because Ranthambore’s overnight is the higher-value trade for most travelers, one rushed safari session meaningfully underperforms two, while Abhaneri and Bhangarh work fine as a standalone day trip once a 6th day is available. Agra, meanwhile, genuinely doesn’t work compressed into one day, it needs the two days this version gives it.
