Overnight Stays Within Reach of Phuket
Phuket does not have a standard multi-day tour of its own. What does exist is a short list of places that make sense for a night or more: an island in Phang Nga Bay, Phi Phi, a national park lake and the Khao Lak coast. You book the boats and rooms yourself, and the sea can change your plans. Ferries and speedboats are cancelled in monsoon weather, so every fare and sailing time below is a rough guide to confirm with the operator.
Staying on Phuket instead
If you only want a longer stay without leaving the island, an itinerary will serve you better than a tour. The 5-day Phuket itinerary and the 7-day version spread the sights, beaches and food stops over several days from a single base.
East by sea: Koh Yao Noi
Boats leave Bang Rong pier on Phuket and reach Manoh pier on Koh Yao Noi in about 30 to 40 minutes. The fare is around 400 to 550 THB. The island sits inside Phang Nga Bay, so it makes a calm base away from the busy west-coast beaches.
South-east by sea: Phi Phi Don
Ferries for Tonsai on Phi Phi Don depart from Rassada pier. The quickest crossing takes about an hour. A seat on a standard ferry is roughly 500 to 700 THB, and speedboats are about 750 to 850 THB for a trip of 1 to 2 hours. Visit Thailand Today, in an update dated 6 October 2026, names the Phi Phi Cruiser and the Andaman Wave Master as sailing at about 08:30 and 13:30, but check the day’s timetable before you book a hotel night. Further on, Railay is 40 to 60 minutes by boat from Phi Phi. It belongs to Krabi province and counts as a separate trip.
North by road: Khao Sok and Cheow Lan Lake
Khao Sok National Park is roughly 150 km from Phuket and takes 2.5 to 3.5 hours by road. The popular overnight is on a floating raft house on Cheow Lan Lake, and 2026 guides mention 500 Rai Floating Resort and Panvaree Resort. Rates and availability are unconfirmed, so write to the resort. Park fees are about 200 THB for adults and 100 THB for children at the headquarters, and the lake area charges about 300 THB and 150 THB on top. Visitors on a minivan transfer to a songthaew for the last 13 km, around 600 THB per vehicle. Both fee sets are on the Khao Sok park page .
North by road: Khao Lak and the Similans
Khao Lak is the base people use for the Similan Islands. The park is open from mid-October to mid-May, and the 2026-27 season started on 15 October 2026. Entry is about 500 THB for adults, tickets are electronic, and a daily quota applies. Staying on the islands or camping there is not permitted, so liveaboards and mainland hotels are the options, and both only make sense inside the open season. Paperwork for a longer trip
Tourists on the visa exemption can stay 30 days from 15 September 2026, and an in-country extension of up to 30 days is usually possible at an immigration office for about 1,900 THB.
